From the dawn of time, it seems that humans have had an underlying desire to move at faster speeds. Ever since the invention of the wheel, the automotive industry has done all that it could to feed this desire with faster, more aerodynamic cars coming off the assembly line every year. With each new model comes better, quicker, and more efficient technology that leaves car enthusiasts and scientists alike yearning for what could possibly be coming up next. This year, it is the 2010 Audi R8 5.2. to enjoy.

Audi has always held a high role in innovation and design, but with the 2010 Audi R8 5.2, the company has surpassed all expectations. Undoubtedly, the most significant aspect of the vehicle is the massive 5.2 liter V-10 that produces 525 hp and 390 ft-lb of torque. The engine is paired with a unique dry-sump oil system and direct injection process that can only be found on the Audi R8. This spectacular motor can push the car from 0-60 in under 4 seconds and reach a speed of 196 mph! That blows many of it’s competitors straight out of the water, or better yet, straight off the track.

The suspension of the new Audi R8 has been tuned to surpass that of the standard R8 and it is a leader in performance and stability for the industry. The brakes of the car have been reconfigured to stop quicker and more gracefully than before. There is even an option to have ceramic breaks installed, which will decrease the weight of the car and increase its stopping power. There are 8 piston calipers in the front and 4 in the back, and each of the brakes have ventilation systems nearby that were incorporated into the design of the vehicle. Small slits in the body allow air flow to reach the brakes at all times to prevent overheating and increase performance.

The overall look of the 2010 Audi R8 5.2 has remained basically the same as its predecessor with only a few minor adjustments to the exterior. The new vehicle does feature LED lights for every part of the car though, making it the first automobile to ever have an entire set of LED lights. The low beams, high beams, daytime lights, and even the turn signals are equipped with LED technology. Just another way that Audi decided to step up its game with the 2010 Audi R8 5.2.
